The MagnaCuff is a magnetized adapted utensil cuff that is intended to be used for the sole purpose of picking up, holding onto, and using a stainless steel utensil to eat a meal. The MagnaCuff is designed to provide users who have limited or absent use of the fingers or hand, the ability to eat meals with increased independence. It is intended to be used independently by adults or by children with the supervision of an adult.
Failure to adhere to the following may result in damage to the MagnaCuff or adverse health effects:
- Do not hold the MagnaCuff within 6 inches of an implanted medical device - the MagnaCuff has a built-in N42 Neodymium magnet that can interfere with implanted medical devices.
- The FDA recommends people keep any consumer electronic devices that may create magnetic interference at least 6 inches away from implanted medical devices, in particular cardiac defibrillators.
- Do not carry the MagnaCuff in a pocket over the medical device or hold it within 6 inches of the medical device.
- Talk to your health care provider PRIOR TO using the MagnaCuff if you have questions regarding the magnet used in the design of the MagnaCuff as it relates to safety with your implanted medical device.
- Do not wash the MagnaCuff in the dishwasher, doing so may warp or break the device which is made from thermoplastic 3-D printing material.
- Do not store your MagnaCuff in a hot environment, doing so may warp or break the device which is made from thermoplastic 3-D printing material.
- Do not use the MagnaCuff with a knife.
- Only use with MagnaCuff with stainless steel forks or spoons or forks or spoons that are made with a majority of stainless steel - The built-in magnet will not self-attach to forks or spoons that are not made with a majority of stainless steel
